A visual arts exhibition opens today, January 21, at 7:00 p.m. at Fundação Arte e Cultura, located on Ilha do Cabo in Luanda. The inaugural exhibition is a collective tribute to visual artist Fernando Lucano, who passed away in 2024 following an illness. Titled “Tribute to Fernando Lucano,” the exhibition revisits the artist’s trajectory, marked by experimentation and social commitment. It offers a moment of reconnection with Lucano’s legacy—an artist known for looking beyond the surface of things and for creatively reusing materials and symbols in his work. In Tribute to Fernando Lucano, four artists who shared both a creative and personal journey with the honoree—Wilson Belas, Paulo Amaral, Saitido Sadamy, and Nelo Teixeira—express their gratitude for the lessons left by Lucano, who was not only a colleague but also a close friend and companion. Through their works, the artists seek to narrate and convey Lucano’s artistic path and depth, honoring a creator widely recognized for his strong commitment to environmental preservation. The exhibition opening will feature a short musical moment and a poetry reading. Tribute to Fernando Lucano will be open to the public until February 11, and can be visited Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
