At Fundação Arte e Cultura, we believe that social transformation begins with education. Since 2021, we’ve been working actively to eradicate illiteracy on Luanda Island through the Alfabetizar a Ilha de Luanda Project — an initiative designed to create real opportunities for inclusion and personal development.
The program focuses on youth and adults aged 15 and above — both men and women who, for various reasons, never had access to formal education. These are individuals with inspiring stories of resilience and determination, eager to learn and rebuild their lives through literacy.
What started with just five classes has now grown to 13 active groups. So far, more than 600 students have successfully learned to read and write. The project’s curriculum is divided into three structured modules, based on the principles of Youth and Adult Education (EJA), ensuring a gradual and practical learning process adapted to each student’s reality.
This initiative has been made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of key institutional partners:
• Ministry of Education, through the Youth and Adult Education (EJA) program, ensuring pedagogical alignment and certification of the curriculum.
• SICCAL, an essential partner providing logistical and community support.
Fundação Arte e Cultura continues to welcome new students and invites everyone to be part of this movement — whether by learning, sharing, or supporting.
Join us and help build a future with more education and equality.
