Diversity
We create inclusive spaces where all voices and expressions belong

The Fundação Arte e Cultura was born in 2006 from the vision of Haim Taib — Founder of the Mitrelli Group and the Menomadin Foundation — to see Angola’s artistic and cultural landscape thrive as a force for social change. Guided by the belief that business leaders have a responsibility to invest in the communities where they operate, Taib launched a foundation dedicated to nurturing cultural diversity and empowering people through the arts.
Our journey began in Luanda, supporting local artists and giving them a platform to express themselves. As Taib’s philanthropic commitment grew alongside the expansion of the Mitrelli Group, the foundation opened additional community centers in other provinces, inaugurated the Tamar Golan Gallery, and established the Casa da Música Conservatory — a space where young musical talents can learn, grow, and be heard.
In 2019, we found our permanent home: in the heart of Luanda Island, we built a vibrant center where art, education, and community come together.
Today, over 1000 children and youth pass through our doors daily. We actively engage families, welcome children from local orphanages, and offer adult programs in literacy, creative empowerment, and women-centered workshops. Our diverse programming has also become a cultural attraction for tourists, generating opportunities for local businesses nearby.
The work of the foundation has earned national recognition, and we are proud to be part of the Angolan Social Responsibility Network. We are also partners of the National Child Institute (INAC) and collaborate regularly with international organizations such as UNICEF, UNESCO, and the United Nations.
When I first arrived in Africa more than three decades ago, it was for reasons far removed from art and culture. Yet it was here that I discovered a calling greater than myself — a conviction that creativity could become a force for empowerment, opportunity, and hope.Out of this realization, Fundação Arte e Cultura was born.
What began as a modest response to the needs I witnessed has since grown into a movement. From its early roots in Ingombotas to its permanent home on Luanda’s Ilha, the
Fundação has become far more than an institution. It is a catalyst, a place where children dare to dream, where women reclaim their independence, and where young artists find
their voices and their future.
My vision was never simply to build a cultural center, but to ignite transformation. By uniting art, education, entrepreneurship, and technology, we created a model where
creativity drives resilience, mobility, and lasting change. What makes the Fundação unique is its integration of entrepreneurial innovation into social development.
Our social enterprises generate the revenue that sustains our programs, while participants — from children in our art schools to women in vocational training — gain practical skills, confidence, and pathways to self-reliance. Volunteers, staff, and partners are not just contributors; they are co-creators of a shared future built on hope and opportunity.
Today, initiatives such as the Wyza Amphitheater, the Tamar Golan Art Gallery, the Music Academy, the Sewing Cooperative, and the “A Better Way” program for orphanage graduates stand as proof of what is possible when innovation and compassion work hand in hand.
As I look to the future, my purpose remains clear: to harness the transformative power of art and culture to empower communities and drive sustainable impact. Together with all our partners and stakeholders in Angola, we will continue to build bridges, nurture talent, and inspire hope for generations to come.
